1. Occupational Shaving Mug, made for 'Capt. Wm. Babcock' and showing two men working on a sailboat that is partially inside a workmen's shed, 3 5/8"h, 'Felda China F&T Germany' is on the base.
The mug has no damage and has a highly detailed decoration. Very rare subject matter.

2. Occupational Shaving Mug, made for 'W.A. Dutchess' and shows the Caption in the wheelhouse of the 'B McG - Bell McGowan' a riverboat paddle wheeler. Two men are on the lower deck, 3 5/8"h, no base markings.
The mug has no damage. Highly detailed decoration.

3. Occupational Shaving Mug, made for 'A. V. S' and showing the riverboat day cruiser 'Daniel Drew', colorful springs of flowers are on each side, 3 1/4"h, unmarked base.
The mug has no damage.
The Daniel Drew was a Hudson River steamship. It was built in 1860 and made regular trips between New York and Albany. In 1863 she was sold to Alfred Van Santvoord for who this mug was made. In 1863 Van Santvoord owned several other boats and started the Hudson River Dayline Company making day trips with many stops along the river. The last trip was in 1971. In 1886 while laying at Kingston Point she caught fire and was totally destroyed.
This is a very early mug, smaller in size then those that followed and with colorful sprigs of flowers, oftentimes seen on earlier mugs but not often seen on the later. Alfred Van Santvoord died in 1901. He is buried in the Albany Rural Cemetery, Albany, New York.

5. Occupational Photographic Shaving Mug, made for 'A.R. Feider' and showing a colored photograph of a locomotive, coal car and passenger car, 'Twentieths (barely legible) Century Limited, New York and Chicago' is on the passenger car, the number '604' in on both front of the locomotive and side of coal car. The letters 'L. S. & M. S. (Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railroad) are beneath the engineer’s window, 3 7/8"h, unmarked base.

6. Occupational Shaving Mug, made for 'W.C Dietz' who drove his motorcycle '12695 M. in 497 H.', it pictures Mr. Dietz sitting on his motorcycle, 3 3/4"h, 'Plato' in gold is on the base.
A flat 3/8" by 1/4" chip is on the inside edge of the base rim, otherwise in perfect condition.
Obviously a one-of-a-kind mug.

10. Occupational Shaving Mug, made for 'Otto Jaeger' and showing a mid 1920s airplane, 3 5/8"h, 'Germany' on base.
The mug has no damage.
According to the Fighter Pilot 'Ace' List compiled by Al Bowers and David Lednicer, Otto Jaeger flew in the Austro-Hungarian air force during World War I (1914 - 1918). He was credited with shooting down seven enemy aircraft (five were required to attain 'ace' status). He apparently came to America after the war possibly to seek work as a pilot. Ex. Possibly the same 'Granite State' that sank in 1890s at the mouth of the Ohio river near Mound City, Illinois.

Plappert.' and showing the inside of a barber shop, with two barbers, one shaving a customer while the other one is cutting hair, a mug rack with a number of shaving mugs and a mirror can also be seen. The mug is 3 5/8"h and has 'Leonard Vienna Austria' on the base.
The mug has no damage and has a very colorful highly detailed and sizable decoration that wraps almost halfway around the mug.
Nicer than most barber shop mugs.

17. Occupational Shaving Mug, made for 'Jas. McAndrew' and showing a railroad ticket agent in his ticket booth, above the booth is 'N.Y.C.& H.R. R.R.' below is 'Ticket Office', a clock, bench and door are in the background, the entire decoration is in an unusual gold frame, 3 7/8"h, unmarked base.
The mug is perfect has a full mint green wrap.
Mr. McAndrew’s was an agent for the New York City and Hudson River Railroad. The railroad was formed in 1869 by Cornelius "Commodore" Vanderbilt through the consolidation of the New York Central Railroad and the Hudson River Railroad and remained such until 1914.

18. Occupational Shaving Mug, a photograph presentation mug. ‘Presented by W.W. White / Wichita, Kansas', and has a picture of an early Steam Driven Tractor, 4"h, 'G.H Fralick Barber's Supplies, Wichita, Kansas' is on the base.
The mug is essentially perfect, but a tiny in-making chip off the edge of the base rim is partially covered by the gold trim.
One of two known, the other was in the collection of the late Jim Carpenter.

22. Occupational Shaving Mug, made for 'John Walsh' and dated '1921', it shows a railroad steam shovel car removing dirt from the side of the tracks, 'MAR SS' is on the side of the shovel, 3 3/4"h, 'Germany' is on the base.
The mug has no damage and has a full green wrap.
The Marion Steam Shovel Company was founded in 1884 in Marion, Ohio. The Marion shovel was very popular and used by most railroads, it was also used in construction of the Panama Canal, Hoover Dam and the Holland Tunnel. The company was sold to Dresser Industries in 1977.
Today the only surviving example (Model 91) is on display in the town of Le Roy, New York where it worked in the local limestone quarries.
