Auction # 192 Closing Monday May 4th, 2026 at 10 PM EDT Catalog Lot 1
Auction Local Time: May 14, 2026 02:11:55 EDT
1. BUST OF COLUMBIA / "KENSINGTON" - EAGLE / "UNION CO.", (GI-117a), Kensington Union Glass Works, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, ca. 1825 - 1835, light shading to a medium yellowish citron green pint, open pontil, sheared and tooled lip.
Some light content haze, otherwise in pristine perfect condition.
This is the extremely rare shorter 12 oz. mould with the single smooth wide vertical rib.
An example was first reported in 1976 by L.A. McCullough of Owens-Illinois and is in the collection of the Toledo Art Museum. In 1983 the Robert W. Skinner auction company sold the iconic collection of the late Judge Edmund Blaske. Lot 263 was an identical flask in a like color. It was cataloged as having a 4" body crack, neck crack and base bruise'. Even with this extensive damage it still managed to sell for $925.00!
To our knowledge that was the last one sold at auction. You are bidding on the most important flask in the Watson collection!
